In 1949 after months of intensive prayer by a few burdened Christians on Lewis Island social evils were swept away. Family worship sprang up in every home. Five or six prayer meetings continued in each parish. More attended the prayer meetings than had attended the public worship service the Sunday before the spiritual awakening.
